What you get, and give up, under $1,000
- Rated size and runtime vary most. Under $1,000, rated pool size runs from 110 m² to 300 m² and runtime from two to five hours. Check both against your pool: area is length × width for a rectangle.
- Waterline cleaning is now common. Every wall-climbing pick here states waterline cleaning. Floor-only robots like the Hy-Clor i1 are cheaper but leave the grime line.
- What you give up: cameras and skimming. Camera navigation and surface skimming mostly start above $1,000 (the WYBOT C2 Vision was $1,299.99 and the Beatbot Sora P7 $2,299 on 26 October 2026).
- Litres or square metres? Hy-Clor rates by volume. A rough conversion: an 8 × 4 m pool averaging 1.4 m deep holds about 45,000 L.
- Check the warranty and who stands behind it. Warranties here run from one to two years. Brand-run Amazon AU stores (Beatbot, WYBOT AU, Aiper) and local companies (Pool Set, Hy-Clor at Bunnings) are easier to deal with than anonymous marketplace sellers.
- Watch the sale price. Pool robot prices move often, and several picks were below their list price on 26 October 2026. Black Friday is 27 November.
