Beatbot Sora 10 review: the most pool for your money, if you can live without steps

The Sora 10 (also sold as the P1) is Beatbot's entry-level cordless robot, and it's our pick for big pools on a budget: Beatbot rates it for 300 m² and up to five hours on a charge for $999. We haven't used it ourselves; this review draws on Beatbot's Australian specs and prices and three independent hands-on reviews. Checked 27 October 2026.

Quick answer

The best value for big pools we've found under $1,000. Beatbot rates the Sora 10 for pools up to 300 m², with up to five hours of floor cleaning or four hours across the floor, walls and waterline, and a 5 L basket. It was $999 at Beatbot's AU store on 27 October 2026, the same as on Amazon AU the day before, with a two-year warranty. Testers liked its suction and leaf pickup (PCWorld measured over 95% of debris in about two hours). Its weaknesses are steps, fine sediment with the standard 150 µm filter (the 3 µm filter is a $99.99 extra), and retrieval: it stays at the waterline for only a few minutes before sinking, according to testers. If you'd rather it waited for you, the AquaSense 2 parks at the surface, for $600 more.

A second site, beatbotaustralia.com.au, also lists the Sora 10 at $999 and calls itself official, but it doesn't name a company and its stock status was contradictory. We link to beatbot.com.au, which the au.beatbot.com address redirects to.

Who should buy it, and who should skip it

  • Buy it if you have a large in-ground pool and want the biggest rating and longest runtime for under $1,000.
  • Buy it if leaves are your main problem; its 5 L basket is the biggest we've found at this price, and testers found it handles leaves well.
  • Skip it if you need steps cleaned; all three testers found it misses them.
  • Skip it if you want a robot that waits at the surface; it floats briefly, then sinks, so keep the hook handy.
  • Skip it if fine dust and sand are the main issue, unless you add the $99.99 fine filter.

Cleaning: what testers found

Suction and leaves. PCWorld (US, 12 June 2026) found it picked up more than 95% of debris in about two hours and called it a good budget pick. AndroidGuys (US, September 2026, 4.2/5) said it handles leaves well, and Basic Tutorials (Germany, 2 June 2026, 80/100) praised its strong suction and app.

Steps and fine dirt. PCWorld and AndroidGuys both found it struggles with steps, and AndroidGuys and Basic Tutorials found fine sediment got past or clogged the standard filter. The optional 3 µm basket is the fix Beatbot sells.

Big pools in practice. Basic Tutorials tested it in a 416 m² pool and suggested it's best for pools up to about 100 m², well below Beatbot's 300 m² rating, because of its simple S-path navigation. Treat 300 m² as a maximum, not a typical result.

A fourth reviewer, The Pool Nerd (US), disapproved of it for erratic paths and weak wall cleaning, but its page carries a date that doesn't fit a 2026 product, so we've given it less weight.

Retrieval: does it wait at the waterline?

Only briefly. Beatbot's AU pages list automatic waterline parking, but Beatbot's own range comparison says the Sora 10 lacks the smart surface parking of the Sora 30 and 70. Testers found it stays at the waterline for only a few minutes (PCWorld) to about ten minutes (AndroidGuys) after a cycle and then sinks, and PCWorld noted the app gives no notification when a cycle ends, so it's easy to miss the window. Plan to fish it out with a pole hook. If lifting a wet robot out matters to you, see the surface-parking AquaSense 2.

Warranty, parts and support

Beatbot AU gives the Sora 10 a two-year warranty (repair, or replacement with a new or refurbished unit), 30-day returns and a 30-day price guarantee. Beatbot's official AU contact for warranty service is by email. The 3 µm ultra-fine filter basket is $99.99 at Beatbot AU and Beatbot rates it for about 40 cycles; we didn't find Australian prices for brushes or chargers. Where to buy

Beatbot AU and Amazon AU (sold by Beatbot) were both $999 on our check dates.

Beatbot AU: $999 Amazon AU: $999

Verdict

For $999, nothing we've found promises more pool or more runtime than the Sora 10, and testers back up its suction and leaf pickup. It's a floor-and-walls workhorse rather than a clever robot: no camera, no step cleaning, a filter that needs a $99.99 upgrade for fine dust, and a short window to catch it at the waterline. For a big, leafy pool on a budget it's our pick; if you want the robot to surface and wait for you, or a three-year warranty, pay the extra for the AquaSense 2.
