Quick answer

Under $1,000, Beatbot's Sora 10 ($999) beats Aiper's Scuba S1 ($799.99) for most pools: it's rated for twice the area, runs longer and has a bigger basket. The S1 is the cheaper pick for pools up to 150 m², but Australian owners report battery and charging faults. Around $1,500, it's closer: Aiper's new Scuba V3 ($1,399.99 on Amazon AU) adds an AI camera, a wireless charging dock and waterline parking, while Beatbot's AquaSense 2 ($1,599) parks at the surface, drains itself and has a three-year warranty. Aiper has a freecall support line; Beatbot's official AU support is by email.

The Sora 10 gives you twice the rated pool size, a longer run and a bigger basket for $200 more, and testers liked its suction and leaf pickup. The S1 has the finer standard filter and a lower price. On ProductReview.com.au the S1 averaged 2.9 out of 5 from 33 reviews when we checked on 27 October, with repeated reports of charging or battery faults at six to 12 months. The V3 is new, and the Amazon AU listing is the only Australian source we found for its price and features; it doesn't state a rated pool size, so check before you buy. Its wireless charging dock addresses the charging-port problems S1 owners report. The AquaSense 2 is the more proven robot, rated for 300 m² with a longer warranty, but its 2 L basket fills fast in leafy pools. Our AquaSense 2 review has the details. We'll review the Scuba V3 once independent tests exist.

Above $2,000

Beatbot's Sora P7 (sold as the Sora 70 in Australia) adds surface skimming and a 6 L basket for $2,299 on Amazon AU, and Beatbot describes the AquaSense 2 Pro and Ultra as 5-in-1 cleaners (the Pro adds surface skimming). Aiper's AU range above the V3 changes often; check Aiper's store. For leafy pools at any price, see best pool robots for leaves.

Which brand suits your pool

  • Small to medium pool, simple needs: Aiper Scuba S1, if you're comfortable with the owner reports on charging. Keep the charging port dry.
  • Large pool or gum leaves: Beatbot Sora 10 under $1,000, for its 300 m² rating and 5 L basket.
  • You don't want to fish it out: Beatbot AquaSense 2, which surfaces and drains itself.
  • You want the newest smart features: Aiper Scuba V3, accepting that it's new and not yet independently reviewed.
  • You want a pool-shop brand with local servicing: neither; look at Maytronics in our Dolphin review.

Where to buy

Both brands sell through their own AU stores and Amazon AU at the same prices on our check date, except the Scuba V3, which we found on Amazon AU.

Scuba S1: $799.99 Sora 10: $999 Scuba V3: $1,399.99 AquaSense 2: $1,599

Verdict

Beatbot wins under $1,000 on pool size, runtime and basket, and the AquaSense 2's self-draining retrieval and three-year warranty make it the safer mid-range buy. Aiper wins on price at the entry level and on support, with a freecall line, and its new Scuba V3 looks like the more modern design at $1,400, though it's too new to judge. For most Australian pools, start with the Sora 10.
