How to choose a robot for a big pool
- Check both area and length. Cordless brands like Beatbot rate by area (m²); Maytronics rates Dolphins by pool length. Measure both. A 15 × 6 m pool is 90 m² of floor, but walls add a lot of surface on a deep pool.
- Runtime has to cover the whole clean. A cordless robot that runs out halfway leaves the job half done. Our cordless picks run four to five hours on the floor. Corded robots run fixed cycles (up to 3 hours on these Dolphins) as often as you like.
- Corded: check the cable reach. The cable has to reach the far end of the pool from the power supply. Maytronics pairs 15 m pools with a 17 m swivel cable, which also stops it twisting.
- Think about lifting it out. A big robot full of water and leaves is heavy. Surface parking and quick-drain features (the AquaSense 2's SmartDrain, the Dolphin Eon's Click-Up) save your back.
- Pay for warranty on a big purchase. Warranties here run from two to four years. On a $2,000-plus robot, a longer warranty with an Australian company behind it is worth having.
- Leafy as well as large? Bigger pools catch more leaves. The AquaSense 2 Pro skims the surface; see our pool robots for leaves for skimmers you can add.

How we researched this
We shortlisted robots sold in Australia that are rated for at least 300 m² or 15 m-long pools, then compared runtime or cycle length, cable length, retrieval, filtration and the warranty each listing states. Prices, specs and ratings come from Amazon AU listings on 26 October 2026, read in a browser; the Dolphins are sold there by Maytronics Australia. We haven't tested these robots ourselves; when we do, this page will say so.
Common questions
What is the best pool robot for a large pool in Australia?
For most large in-ground pools, the Beatbot AquaSense 2 ($1,599 on Amazon AU, checked 26 October 2026). It's rated for 300 m², runs up to four hours on the floor and has a three-year full-replacement warranty with local support.
Is a corded or cordless robot better for a big pool?
Corded robots never run out of battery mid-clean and have no battery to replace, which suits very big pools. Cordless robots now run four to five hours, enough for most large home pools, and there's no cable to manage.
How long a cable does a pool robot need?
Long enough to reach the far end of the pool from the power supply. Maytronics fits a 17 m swivel cable to its Dolphins for pools up to 15 m.
Which pool robot has the longest warranty?
Of our picks, the Dolphin M700, with a four-year Maytronics warranty stated on its Amazon AU listing. The Beatbot AquaSense 2 and 2 Pro and the Dolphin S3000 have three years.
How big a pool can a cordless robot clean?
The biggest rating we found is 360 m² (Beatbot AquaSense 2 Pro). Several cordless robots are rated for 300 m².
