What the extra money buys over $500
- Hot-water mop washing. Every pick except the eufy washes its mop pads with hot water (75–80 °C), which helps shift grease from kitchen floors and keeps the dock from smelling. Budget docks wash with cold water or not at all.
- Much stronger suction. This band starts at 18,000 Pa for most picks, against 5,000–10,000 Pa under $500. It matters most on rugs and carpet; on hard floors the difference is smaller.
- Obstacle avoidance still varies. Only the Ecovacs (AIVI 3D) and eufy (AI.See camera) try to recognise objects. The Roborock and Dreame picks use structured light, which avoids furniture but won't reliably spot cables or pet mess.
- Longer warranties. JB Hi-Fi lists 30 months for the Ecovacs and 3 years for the Dreame. Roborock lists 24 months for the Qrevo C Pro. Your Australian Consumer Law rights apply on top of these.
- Most of these prices are sales. Ticket prices run from $1,699 to $1,999. If a pick is back at full price when you read this, wait for the next sale rather than paying it.
Other good options on the check date: the Roborock Qrevo Curv 2 Flow (roller mop, 20,000 Pa) was a $799 Prime Big Deal on Amazon AU (list price $2,499). The Roborock Saros Z70, with its robot arm and 22 mm mop lift, was $999 to pre-order at the Roborock Store ANZ, but that price has already bounced between $997 and $1,299 in August. We shortlisted all-in-one robot vacuums sold by Australian retailers for $1,000 or less on 29 September 2026 (JB Hi-Fi, Bunnings, Amazon AU and brand stores), leaving out models that only suit our under $500 guide. We compared manufacturer specs for suction, obstacle avoidance, mop lift and dock features, plus stated Australian warranties, and read independent Australian reviews where they exist. We haven't tested these robots ourselves.

Is it worth spending $1,000 instead of $500?
If you want the robot to mop well, usually yes: hot-water mop washing, automatic refill and higher suction are standard here. For vacuuming only, a $300–$500 model with a self-emptying dock covers most homes.
Will these mop my rugs?
They lift their mops when they detect carpet, by 10–12 mm on these models. That clears low-pile rugs. For thicker rugs, use no-mop zones or look at robots that leave their mops in the dock.
Do these robots avoid cables and socks?
The Ecovacs and eufy use 3D or camera recognition. The Roborock and Dreame picks use structured light, so tidy the floor before a run.
How often do I empty the dock?
Roughly every 7–9 weeks for the Roborock picks, going by Roborock's figures. The Dreame and Ecovacs docks hold 3.2 L and 3 L bags. Pet hair fills them faster.
