ECOVACS Goat O600 RTK review: the cheapest way to go wire-free on an open lawn

ECOVACS brought its Goat mowers to Australia in August 2026, and the O600 RTK is the entry model: a satellite-guided (RTK) mower with a camera for obstacles, rated for lawns up to 600 m². We haven't used it ourselves. This review pulls together ECOVACS' Australian specs, current prices, and what Digital Reviews Network in Australia and a Dutch tester found. Prices checked 18 October 2026.

Quick answer

Best value for a small-to-medium lawn with open sky. It's $1,299 RRP and $1,119 as a limited-time deal on Amazon AU (the Care Kit version, listed RRP $1,399), which makes it one of the cheapest wire-free mowers in Australia. Reviewers found setup quick (about 15 minutes for the mower, plus finding a clear-sky spot for the RTK antenna) and running very quiet. The catches: RTK needs open sky, so heavy tree cover or a two-storey house close by can upset it; it left strips along some borders and clumps in long grass in the Australian review; and by default it won't mow in the dark, to protect wildlife. Shaded yard? Look at a LiDAR or camera mower instead.

Amazon AU checked 18 October 2026. ECOVACS AU and JB Hi-Fi prices are from page fetches the same day; ECOVACS AU's page wouldn't display a price in our browser, so confirm in the cart. Launch price and timing: $1,299 RRP, on sale from 4 August 2026 (Digital Reviews Network and EFTM, 17 July 2026). We couldn't confirm exactly what Amazon's 'Care Kit' adds over the standard box.

Who should buy it, and who should skip it

  • Buy it if your lawn is up to about 600 m², mostly open to the sky, with fences, beds or paths marking the edges.
  • Buy it if you want the lowest price for a wire-free mower with app control and a proper schedule.
  • Skip it if big gums, a pergola or a neighbour's two-storey wall shade much of the lawn; RTK loses accuracy without open sky. See our mowers for trees and shade.
  • Skip it if your slopes are steeper than 45% (24°), or you want it to mow at night.

From ECOVACS AU's product page (checked 18 October 2026) unless marked. The warranty figures conflict: ECOVACS' own page says '3-year warranty' under 'Australian warranty', while JB Hi-Fi's listing says 2 years. Ask the retailer to confirm before you buy. A Dutch tester measured about 58 dB and found it passes through gaps of about 70 cm; ECOVACS doesn't publish either figure.

Setup and navigation

Setup has two parts: the charging dock, which sits on the lawn and is pegged down, and the RTK antenna, which mounts on a pole somewhere with a clear view of the sky. Digital Reviews Network had the mower mapping quickly and called setup easy, though one of the plastic anchor screws later worked loose. Huis & Tuin Advies (Netherlands, 29 May 2026) timed setup at about 15 minutes.

RTK gives centimetre-level positioning when the antenna and mower can both see enough satellites. ECOVACS says its multi-band receiver holds the signal better in partial shade, but the Dutch review still found it struggled where there were many trees. The camera handles obstacles, not navigation. Our RTK vs vision vs LiDAR guide explains why sky view matters.

Mowing performance: what reviewers found

Cut and pattern: Huis & Tuin Advies found it cut straight, even lines and handled narrow passages well; it scored it 9 out of 10.

Edges: the main weakness in Australia. Digital Reviews Network's mower kept its distance from some borders and left strips of longer grass, especially in corners, even after remapping and moving the antenna. ECOVACS says its TruEdge feature cuts right to passable edges like paving; plan on a line trimmer for raised edges and corners anyway.

Long grass: it left clumps when the grass was long, so the Australian reviewer ran a normal mower over first. Once the lawn was short, maintenance mows went well. ECOVACS says it has 150% more cutting power than 'standard' robot mowers for kikuyu and buffalo; that's ECOVACS' lab claim, and neither reviewer tested it on those grasses. Our buffalo, couch and kikuyu guide covers what Australian grasses need.

Noise, rain and wildlife: Digital Reviews Network found it quieter than a fridge. By default it waits three hours after rain, and its small-animal protection stops it mowing in the dark, which the reviewer supported.

App, anti-theft and privacy

The ECOVACS Home app covers maps (add, merge and split zones), schedules, cutting height, and manual driving, which Digital Reviews Network found laggy. The app showed ads, including a pop-up. Moving or lifting the mower triggers an app alert and can lock it behind a PIN, but the built-in alarm was quiet enough that possums ignored it. We didn't find 4G connectivity listed, so remote alerts depend on your Wi-Fi reaching the yard.

The AIVI camera looks at your yard to spot obstacles. ECOVACS robot vacuums were hijacked in the US in 2024; we saw no reports involving Goat mowers. Use a unique password and two-factor login. Our camera privacy guide has more.

Blades and running costs

ECOVACS AU sells a Blade Kit for Goat that it lists for the O600 RTK, A2000 LiDAR Pro and T2000, and bundles extra kits with the mower. Digital Reviews Network's app showed about 76 hours of blade life remaining after plenty of mowing, and called replacements easy and cheap. Third-party cutting discs are on Amazon AU too; check the fit before ordering.

Where to buy

Amazon AU's Care Kit deal at $1,119 was the lowest price in our checks on 18 October 2026. ECOVACS AU sells it at $1,299, with bundles; JB Hi-Fi showed $1,299 but not available.

Verdict

The Goat O600 RTK is the simplest, cheapest way we know of to go wire-free on an open suburban lawn, and the Australian review backs up its easy setup and quiet running. Expect to trim edges and corners, to pre-mow long spring grass, and to need open sky for the antenna. At $1,119 it's our value pick for sunny lawns up to 600 m²; at the full $1,299 it's still good value. For shaded yards, choose LiDAR or cameras instead.

Common questions

How much is the ECOVACS Goat O600 RTK in Australia?

$1,299 RRP at ECOVACS AU, and $1,119 as a limited-time deal on Amazon AU (Care Kit version), checked 18 October 2026.

Does the Goat O600 RTK need an antenna?

Yes. It uses RTK satellite positioning, so an antenna goes on the included pole somewhere with a clear view of the sky. There's no boundary wire.

Does the Goat O600 RTK work under trees?

It can lose accuracy where trees or buildings block the sky. A Dutch tester found it struggled in heavily treed areas. For shaded lawns, a LiDAR or camera mower is safer.

Can the Goat O600 RTK mow at night?

Not by default. Its small-animal protection stops it mowing in the dark, according to Digital Reviews Network.

What warranty does the Goat O600 RTK have in Australia?

ECOVACS AU's page says 3 years, while JB Hi-Fi's listing says 2 years. Confirm with the seller; Australian Consumer Law rights apply either way.
