Husqvarna vs Mammotion: dealer-backed Automower or feature-packed LUBA?

Husqvarna is the long-established name in robot mowers, sold and serviced through hundreds of dealers. Mammotion is the newer brand whose all-wheel-drive LUBA mowers top slope ratings and spec sheets for less money. Here's how their Australian ranges compare on price, navigation, slopes, support and running costs. We haven't used these mowers ourselves. Prices checked 20 October 2026.

Quick answer

Choose Mammotion for steep blocks, trees and value; choose Husqvarna for dealer installation, local servicing and neat, proven cutting. Mammotion's LUBA 3 AWD ($3,899–$5,599) and LUBA mini 2 AWD ($3,499) handle 80% slopes and combine LiDAR with cameras, so they cope with shade, and come with a 3-year warranty and 3 years of 4G. Husqvarna's comparable wire-free models cost more (the 435 iQ AWD is $8,899 RRP for 70% slopes), but you get a local dealer to install it and handle warranty claims, a 5-year warranty option with annual servicing, and no 4G fees. For a small, simple lawn, Husqvarna's wired Automowers start lower.

The verdict by yard

  • Steep block (over 45%): Mammotion. The LUBA mini 2 AWD (1,500 m²) and LUBA 3 AWD are rated to 80%; Husqvarna's steepest, the 435 iQ AWD, is rated to 70% inside the lawn and 50% at the edge.
  • Trees, pergolas and a two-storey house: Mammotion, because LiDAR works without open sky. Husqvarna's EPOS models rely on satellites; for heavy shade its wired models are the fallback.
  • Small, simple lawn and a tight budget: Husqvarna's wired Automower 305 ($1,799) or Aspire R4 ($999 on Amazon AU), if you don't mind a boundary wire. Mammotion's cheapest AU model is the YUKA mini 2 1000 at $2,299.
  • You want someone local to install and fix it: Husqvarna, through its dealer network.
  • Large block, 3,000–5,000 m²: Mammotion's LUBA 3 AWD 5000 ($5,599) costs far less than Husqvarna's 435 iQ AWD ($8,899) or 450X NERA ($7,798 campaign RRP). See best mowers for large blocks.

Husqvarna prices are RRPs from Husqvarna AU (dealers set their own prices), except the Aspire R4, which we found on Amazon AU rather than Husqvarna AU's current listing. Mammotion prices are Mammotion AU's selling prices; it shows no RRP. LUBA mini 2 and LUBA 3 prices matched on Amazon AU. Husqvarna also lists the 312V, 420 iQ, 440 iQ, 305E NERA and 450X NERA, and says new Vision and iQ models are coming soon.

Navigation: EPOS satellites vs LiDAR

Husqvarna's wire-free mowers use EPOS, its satellite positioning, corrected either through Husqvarna Cloud (which needs stable Wi-Fi or internet across the lawn, in selected areas) or a reference station; the iQ models include the RS1 station. Husqvarna quotes 2–3 cm accuracy with the station. The V models add an AI camera; the iQ models add radar. Husqvarna still sells boundary-wire mowers, which work anywhere.

Mammotion's LUBA 3 AWD combines 360° LiDAR with a camera, and the 3000 and 5000 add network RTK through its iNavi service, so no base station is needed. The LUBA mini 2 and YUKA mini 2 use LiDAR and cameras without RTK. LiDAR doesn't need a view of the sky, which is why Mammotion copes better under gums and beside houses. Our navigation explainer goes deeper.

Slopes

Mammotion's all-wheel-drive LUBA models are rated to 80% (38.6°), the steepest of any brand we cover with independent reviews. Husqvarna publishes separate limits for inside the lawn and at the boundary, which is more honest about where mowers slide: its 435 iQ AWD is rated to 70% inside and 50% at the edge, and most of its 2WD models drop to 15% at the boundary. Our slopes guide has the full shortlist and our LUBA mini 2 AWD review covers how its rating held up with testers.

From Husqvarna AU's warranty policy and dealer page, and Mammotion AU's after-sales and customer-service pages, checked 20 October 2026. Mammotion's warranty is issued by its Hong Kong company. Under Australian Consumer Law, the retailer you bought from must also deal with major faults.

Apps, 4G and running costs

Husqvarna: Automower Connect is free with no running costs; cellular models use a Husqvarna SIM that Husqvarna says gives 10 years of connectivity, as long as the network technology is still supported. Blades start at $55 for six and Husqvarna says they typically last 3–6 weeks.

Mammotion: LUBA 3 AWD and LUBA mini 2 AWD include 3 years of 4G (YUKA 1 year); after that, Mammotion AU's 4G renewal is $89.90 for 12 months, and 4G-dependent features such as remote control and live video stop without it. Its iNavi network RTK service is free for the product's life, needs 4G or Wi-Fi, and coverage in Australia is still expanding.

Theft protection

Husqvarna's mowers have a PIN, alarm, lift and tilt sensors and a GeoFence; GPS tracking is on cellular models such as the 410 iQ, 435 iQ and 450X NERA, but not the Aspire R6V or 305E NERA. Mammotion uses account binding, an anti-reactivation lock, GPS location tracking, geofence alerts and a Lost mode; it doesn't advertise a PIN or audible alarm, and its LUBA product pages don't detail theft features.

What reviewers say

We found no head-to-head test from a major publisher. CHOICE's Australian robot-mower test includes Husqvarna models but not Mammotion. Individually, testers praise Husqvarna's methodical cutting and edges, and Mammotion's slope handling and navigation; see our LUBA 3 AWD review, LUBA mini 2 AWD review and Automower 305 review.
