Dreame and Roborock trade blows at every price point in Australia, and both launched new flagships here in the past month. The right choice depends less on the logo than on which model is discounted and what your floors need. Prices checked 4 October 2026.

Quick answer

Dreame leads on headline features (extending arms, 10 cm step climbing, the first steam robot) and on warranty: 36 months on its X-series and Aqua flagships. Its older flagships have had deep sale discounts, but those have ended: the X50 Ultra was back to $2,999 on 14 October 2026, so wait for the next sale. Roborock leads on reliability ratings from Australian owners (Finder's 2026 awards), a strong local support set-up, and the widest range of sensible mid-price models at its own store. Pick Dreame for carpet, pets and flagships bought on sale; pick Roborock for a dependable all-rounder.

Dreame's 2026 launch prices from EFTM (1 October 2026). X40, X50 and X60 Ultra prices and the Aqua20's stock were rechecked on 14 October 2026, after Dreame's early-October sale prices ended. Amazon “RRP” labels on discounted Dreame models have been disputed by some shoppers, so judge the price, not the percentage off.

Features: arms, climbing and steam

Dreame has pushed hardest on features that reach into awkward spaces. The X60 Ultra Extreme (mid-October, $3,299 RRP) extends its side brush up to 12 cm and its mop up to 18 cm under kickboards and into corners, and it claims 42,000 Pa suction. The Aqua20 Ultra Roller adds 180 °C steam (see our steam robot explainer). Both claim to climb double steps up to 10 cm.

Roborock's strengths are its AdaptiLift chassis (the Saros 20 lifts itself over double thresholds) and turret-free solid-state LiDAR (StarSight), which keeps the Saros 20 under 8 cm tall. Its Saros Z70 has a five-axis arm that can pick up light objects, now $999 at Roborock's store against a $3,999 launch price.

Warranty and support

Dreame Australia's warranty policy lists 36 months for the X60 Ultra, X50 Ultra and Aqua series, 12 months for entry models such as the D9 Max, and 24–36 months for most mid-range models (consumables excluded). Claims go to [email protected]. Some CHOICE Community members have reported slow Dreame warranty claims in past years.

Roborock lists 24 months on current product pages such as the Saros 20 and Saros Z70, with claims through [email protected] and a service centre in Eastern Creek, NSW. Both brands' consumables are easy to find; Roborock's own store sells genuine bags, brushes and mop cloths.

Privacy and security

A 2025 Korea Consumer Agency test reported that the Dreame X50 Ultra could let outsiders view its live camera feed, and listed a Roborock model among those with vulnerabilities without detailing the flaw (Korea JoongAng Daily). Earlier research by Dennis Giese at DEF CON 2021 showed both brands' robots could be rooted. Keep firmware updated, use a strong account password, and disable camera streaming if you don't need it.
