eufy Omni robot vacuum review (Australia): Omni E28 and E25

eufy's Omni E28 is a roller-mop robot whose dock hides a detachable carpet spot cleaner. Testers like its mopping and obstacle avoidance; the catches are hair tangling, a tall body, a 12-month warranty and a $1,999 list price that's rarely what people pay. Prices checked 1 October 2026.

Quick answer

Don't pay $1,999 for the eufy Omni E28. Its roller mop, camera-based obstacle avoidance and 3 L dock bag are good, and the detachable spot cleaner is genuinely handy for spills on rugs and couches. But it's sold for $750–$900 at times this year, so wait for a sale. If you don't need the spot cleaner, the Omni E25 is the same robot for less. Skip both if you have long-haired pets or low furniture: the robot is 111 mm tall.

Who should buy it, and who should skip it

  • Buy if you have kids or pets that spill on rugs and upholstery: the FlexiOne cleaner lifts out of the dock for liquid stains.
  • Buy if your floors are mostly hard and you want roller mopping with camera-based avoidance.
  • Skip if you have long-haired pets (see testing below) or low couches.
  • Skip if a long warranty matters: eufy gives 12 months, against 24–30 months from Roborock and Ecovacs.

From eufy's Australian product page and eufy's E28 page. Testers report a mop lift of about 10.5 mm and threshold climbing of about 21 mm (Vacuum Wars, robot-review.com); eufy doesn't publish either figure.

Cleaning performance: what independent testers found

We haven't tested the Omni E28. Here's what published reviews measured or observed.

  • Mopping is a highlight. CyberShack's Australian review (August 2025, 90/100) saw the roller mop clear sauces well and measured 96–97% pickup on hard floors. Vacuum Wars also rated its stain removal strongly.
  • Obstacle avoidance is very good. Vacuum Wars recorded 23 of 24 obstacles avoided, and CyberShack had no avoidance failures.
  • Carpet is decent, not class-leading. Vacuum Wars measured 85% on its deep-carpet test; CyberShack saw about 85% on carpet and needed extra passes.
  • Long hair is a problem. Vacuum Wars recorded the worst long-hair tangling it has measured, and robot-review.com also saw long hair clump.
  • It's loud. Tom's Guide and Gizmodo both flagged a noisy self-emptying dock and spot cleaner.
  • The spot cleaner divides opinion. CyberShack called it fit for purpose; Gizmodo found the hose holds water and smells, and Vacuum Wars raised hose durability concerns.

CHOICE has tested the E28, but its results are for members only.

App, maintenance and running costs

It runs on the eufy Clean app, with LiDAR maps, room settings and no-go zones. Genuine parts from eufy Australia on 1 October 2026:

PartPrice (AUD)
Dust bags, 3-pack (C28/E25/E28)$29.95
Roller mop (S2/S1 Pro/E25/E28)$39.95; eufy suggests replacing every 6 months
Complete maintenance kit (E28/E25)$149.95

Replacing the roller mop every six months comes to about $80 a year, plus bags ($29.95 for three) and eufy's detergent. The robot's bin is small (testers quote 250–300 mL), so the dock does a lot of emptying.

Warranty and support

eufy's Australian warranty for robot vacuums is 12 months, on top of your Australian Consumer Law rights. Claims go through the retailer, or through eufy ([email protected]) for eufy store purchases, which also carry a 30-day money-back guarantee. JB Hi-Fi and CHOICE also list one year.

Privacy and security

The E28 has an RGB camera for obstacle recognition. eufy's Australian support pages say, for its AI.See system on the X10 Pro Omni, that obstacle photos are encrypted, sent to your phone rather than stored on servers, and that people are blurred; the feature can be switched off. We couldn't find an E28-specific statement, so check the app settings. In 2023 Anker admitted some eufy security camera streams weren't fully encrypted; that involved cameras, not robot vacuums.

Strengths and weaknesses

Strengths

  • Roller mop with strong stain results in testing
  • Very good obstacle avoidance
  • Detachable spot cleaner for spills on rugs and upholstery
  • 3 L bag, auto refill and detergent
  • Long runtime

Weaknesses

  • Severe long-hair tangling in Vacuum Wars' testing
  • 111 mm tall
  • Noisy dock
  • 12-month warranty
  • List price far above typical sale prices

Alternatives

Our verdict

The Omni E28 is a good mopping robot with a clever extra, but it's priced like a flagship and backed like a budget model. Buy it on sale, ideally under $1,000, if the spot cleaner solves a real problem in your home. Otherwise, the E25 or the Ecovacs X8 Pro Omni gives you similar roller mopping for less, and the Ecovacs has a much longer warranty.
