Dreame's 2025 flagship, famous for legs that lift it over room-to-room sills, is being cleared at less than half price as the X60 Ultra takes over. Here's whether it's still worth buying. Prices checked 30 September 2026.

Who should buy it, and who should skip it
- Buy if you have door sills, a sunken lounge step or an ensuite lip up to about 4 cm (6 cm if it's a two-step threshold).
- Buy if you have pets: Vacuum Wars measured 98% pet hair pickup and no tangling, and it can recognise pet mess.
- Skip if you need thorough edge and corner cleaning; Gizmodo and ProductReview owners flag it.
- Skip if your sills are higher than 6 cm; the Roborock Saros 20 and Dreame X60 Ultra claim 8.8 cm.

Cleaning performance: what independent testers found
We haven't tested the X50 Ultra. Here's what published reviews measured or observed.
- The legs work, if not gracefully. Gizmodo measured it clearing 4.2 cm, the highest of the robots it had tested; EFTM's Australian reviewer saw it get past an ensuite step that stopped earlier robots. TechRadar says the way down is "an alarming crash".
- Excellent on hair and carpet. Vacuum Wars recorded 98% pet hair pickup, 0% tangling and 83% on its carpet deep-clean test, and ranks it third on its list.
- Very good mopping. TechRadar called it the most thorough mopping it had tested; Vacuum Wars scored its mopping above average. Trusted Reviews found the automatic CleanGenius mode weaker on deep stains than manual settings.
- Edges and obstacles are the weak points. Gizmodo said it "missed a ton of stuff near the walls" and got caught on black cords. TechRadar found it missed short wires, paper and socks, and only reliably avoided fake pet mess once Pet mode was switched on.
- Runtime is well short of the claim. TechRadar averaged about 90 minutes; Gizmodo used about 70% of the battery on one bedroom.
App, maintenance and running costs
The Dreamehome app has maps, room settings and many mop-wetness levels, which Trusted Reviews found excessive. Consumables from Dreame AU on 30 September 2026:

Dreame's product page says the 3.2 L bag lasts up to 100 days, but its own Australian bag listing says 3 L and up to 60 days, so plan on the lower figure.
Warranty, support and owner feedback
Dreame's Australian warranty policy and JB Hi-Fi list 3 years. Dreame AU also lists guaranteed software updates until March 2029. On ProductReview.com.au it averages 4.3 from 57 owner reviews; complaints include mop pads not reattaching, the app showing the robot offline, and slow support responses.
Privacy and security
The X50 Ultra has an AI camera. In September 2025, Korea's consumer agency reported that its camera could be switched on remotely and viewed if sharing permissions were enabled; the report says the companies involved have since patched the issues. Separately, in August 2025 a researcher found a flaw in the Dreame app on public Wi-Fi (ABC News named the X40, not the X50). Keep the app updated and leave remote camera viewing off unless you need it.

The X50 Ultra is no longer the newest Dreame, but at $1,279–$1,299 it's one of the best deals on a flagship robot vacuum in Australia, and our pick for pet owners. Buy it for sills, low furniture and pet hair while stock lasts. If edges matter most, or your thresholds are taller than 6 cm, spend the extra on an X60 Ultra or Saros 20 instead.
